The 3D HLX Process:
Design Process Overview
In Draft
During the design phase the project team plans every aspect of the web site, from aesthetics to work flow. This phase begins by establishing the needs of the client and audience. With these guidelines in place, three separate processes can be tackled by different groups of the project team:
The hypertext team develops a plan for content management.
The layout team develops a plan for site navigation and arrangement.
The expression team develops a plan for the site's visual presentation.
Though these processes may be handled separately, the layout teams's work tends to depend on the plans set for by the hypertext team and the expression team's designs rely on groundwork created by the layout team. The three processes require coordination. Once complete, the work of all three groups is consolidated into a master plan and validated against the established needs. The master plan must also be reviewed to ensure it is feasible. Once both requirements are met the development phase can begin.
