Hi. I'm Billy Beaudoin. I am the Systems Manager for Information Technology and Engineering Computing Services in the College of Engineering at
. That's quite a mouthful if I do say say so myself. I am historically (and not so historically) a "Windows Guy", but I manage the whole gammut: Mac weenies, Windows people and Unix geeks.
What I do:
- I manage 5 full time staff who are responsible for providing 24x7x365 services for the College of Engineering.
- I provide training and professional development opportunities for my staff and other staff throughout the College.
- I am supposed to fill a "technical leadership" role both within the College and university at large.
- I co-administer the Active Directory domain for the College of Engineering.
- I co-administer the Active Directory domain for the Administrative and HR Staff in the College of Engineering that will be migrating to the larger domain eventually.
- I do OS configuration and installation development for both the Windows Lab environment for the College of Engineering.
- I do lots of application packaging using both Novell Zenworks and MSI's.
- I provide all the technical gibberish for the Remote Access documentation for NC State.
- I am a member of the Virtual Computing Lab project team.
- I represent the College of Engineering in NDSTech and the Security Subcommittee, two subcommittees of the UIT Committee.
- I provide 3rd tier assistance to helpdesk and other ITECS staff in supporting the College of Engineering as a whole.
- I am the equivalent of an IT swiss army knife, as I have dealt with every service we have in varied capacities. I do lots of things passably and a few things well.
- I'm the guy who neglected this site for almost 3 years.
And it you are still interested, you can see more specifics of what I do on the
ITECS/Systems website.
