March 4, 2017. Dr. Zhu was presented the 2017 TMS Fellow award on March 1, 2017 at the TMS Annual meeting in San Diego. The citation reads "For pioneering contributions to the understanding of deformation physics of nanomaterials and the development of nanotechnologies to produce superior nanomaterials." Fellow of TMS (The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society) is the highest level of membership within this professional society and is limited to no more than 100 members.
Oct. 3, 2016. Dr. Zhu has been listed among 152 "Highly Cited Researchers 2016-Materials Science" by Thomsom Reuters. Thomson Reuters owns the "Web of Science", which generates the well-known ISI citations. The full list for all fields can be found HERE.

Nov. 11, 2015. NC State University released a news entitled as Researchers Find Way to Make Metals Stronger Without Sacrificing Ductility, which is based on a paper published by Dr. Zhu and his colleagues: “Heterogeneous Lamella Structure UNites Ultrafine-Grain Strength with Coarse-GRain Ductility,” which was published online on Nov. 9 in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
Nov. 10, 2015. Jordan Moering won NCSU UGSA Award for Conferences, which comes with $1500 for him to attend the 2016 TMS Spring meeting.
Sept. 22, 2015. Liwen Zhang won the "Honorable Mention" and "Excellent Abstract" for the 3rd Annual Triangle Student Research Competition held at RTP headquarters.
July 10, 2015. The international collaboration team of Prof. Ruslan Valiev (Ufa State Aviation Technical University) and Prof. Yuntian Zhu has been chosen as the winner of the Somiya Award 2015 by the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS), for their collaborative research on "Resolving the Paradox of Superior Strength and Ductility of Ultrafine-Grained Metals Through Nanostructuring Design."
May 6, 2015. NC State University released a news entitled as ‘Microcombing’ Creates Stronger, More Conductive Carbon Nanotube Films which is based on a paper published by Dr. Zhu and his colleague: “Strong and Conductive Dry CNT Films by Microcombing,” which was published online on May 4 in Small.
March 18, 2015. Dr. Zhu is awarded the 2015 TMS Leadership Award at the 2015 TMS Annual Meeting In Orlando, Florida. The citation read: "For outstanding leadership in the area of deforamtion physics and properties of nanostructured materials." This award recognizes "exceptional leadership in the national and international metallurgy and materials field."
